No flopping around like the Merrell products. Although the sole is fairly stiff it flexes just enough and teh insole that comes with it is very soft and comfortable so you can be on your feet all day without fatigue. Also, the shoe looks professional enough that it works great for the office. Plus it accomodates orthotics very well. Unlike the other reviewer's experience, I found that the shoe fits just right. Highly recommend it. I bought a black and Mocha pair. They are also very durable. Colleagues recommended these Danskos so I bought a pair as well. The leather top is also smooth without stitching, so great for wiping away blood with disinfectant. First impressions at the store were pretty good: they felt snug and comfortable, and there was good arch support and traction. I had the saleswoman fit me (pretty much my regular shoe size), and satisfied with the fit, I happily brought the shoes home to try them out the next day.Unfortunately, under real, day-long walking and standing conditions, I've never been in so much discomfort as this pair of shoes. These shoes were torture after a 14-hour day. I want to clarify here that I'm used to wearing heavy black leather shoes (Cole Haan, Bostonian, CK); so stiff leather shoes like these Danskos are not new to me. So what's wrong with these shoes?
