They are not good as winter boots and are very slippery on snow or ice. I wear a U.S. 8.5-9. A Hunter size 6 or U.S. 8 fit me great. I even added a Superfeet insole to give them more support and that fit in as well. The Hunter originals were way to skinny but these Huntresses fit easily over pants. I have average size calves. Overall I love these boots and will get a lot of use from them especially with all the melting snow we have. They look amazing with leggings and what I really love is that they bend, they are comfy, the sole is cushioned - everything my Kamik "Christina" boots were not. I bought the Kamik because they came in a large calve, but the rubber is so stiff, there is no support inside, totally flat and the sole is so hard.
